Portland

Portland Oregon is situated in the magnificent Pacific northwest of the United States. Also known as The City Of Roses, Portland Oregon is in the Northern portion of the state. The city encompasses 145.4 total square miles and it sits on top of an extinct volcanic expanse named Boring Lava Field. The climate of Portland is very lovely, getting to the mid 80's on average during the summer time, and reaching an average high temperature of the mid to upper 50s in the winter. It only snows a few times a year, but the city has had major snow and ice storms in the past. Tourist attractions in Portland Oregon are plentiful. There are a variety of parks and gardens in Portland where people can enjoy the city's atmosphere. Forest Park, which spans over 5,000 acres is one of the largest wilderness parks in the United States that is within city limits. Portland's largest art collection is owned by the Portland Art Museum, which is one of the twenty-five largest museums in the country. The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry has several interactive exhibits encompassing many branches of the science field. This hands on museum holds the USS Blueback, an SS-581 submarine which was used in the movie The Hunt for Red October, staring Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin.
